For the past two decades, Pauli and her family have been deeply involved with Friends of Thai Daughters (FTD) forming strong bonds with their Thai "Daughters." Pauli, along with her husband Terry, and four children have traveled throughout SE Asia nearly a dozen times. In 2012, the family spent their winter school semester living in Chiang Rai with the FTD Daughters volunteering their time building new classrooms for a local school. In 2023, FTD built the first and currently only pickleball courts in Chiang Rai, Thailand. Two more covered courts are nearing completion in Chiang Khong at their second foundation home. This emerging sport is providing opportunities for at-risk girls and hill tribe children to learn valuable lessons in sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline, all while having fun! The goal of JOSS is to share the wonders of Thailand, introduce Friends of Thai Daughters and bringing people together through the winning combination of pickleball, love of travel and desire of philanthropy.
